Employ older 'pale males': iLIVE
Phumla Matjila's comments on the state of public administration ("Mbeki long on talk", yesterday) prompts me to advance views I have held on the subject since being forced to retire from a large, listed group due to my age.
I believe there is a huge untapped resource of people with impeccable references and loads of financial and technical experience, if only the powers- that-be would accept that they are 65 plus years old and mostly pale and male. This would, of course, also be an invaluable mentoring exercise for the new generation of administrators.
