Extended Public Works Programme workers set three vehicles belonging to Tshwane municipal officials in Soshanguve‚ north of Pretoria‚ on Thursday morning.

The workers - employed under the Tshwane metro's Vat Alles programme‚ which employs young people to clean the streets‚ municipal offices and other facilities - are said to have been angered by not receiving their salaries.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo confirmed the incident.

"…It is true that three cars belonging to city officials have been set alight allegedly by Vat Alles employees. We will keep you posted in respect of reasons behind the arson action‚" he said.
