DRC protesters, police clash in Johannesburg

A group of protesters from the Democratic Republic of Congo clashed with police outside the ANC's Luthuli House headquarters in Johannesburg on Monday.
The shutters were three-quarters down at the entrance to the ruling party's offices where the party's national executive committee (NEC) customarily meets on Mondays.
According to a vendor, shots were fired but the police and metro police on the scene said they were not allowed to speak to the media.
The police media spokesman was not immediately available.
Two blocks of Sauer Street were cordoned off and the crowd regrouped opposite Beyers Naude Square.
They carried posters saying President Jacob Zuma should stay out of Congolese affairs.
That country is in the throes of a contested election which is being monitored by South African observers.
