Nuclear regulator gets new CEO

The National Nuclear Regulator (NNR) announces the appointment of a new chief executive officer, advocate Boyce Mkhize.



"Advocate Mkhize brings a wealth of expertise to the NNR as a seasoned registrar and CEO with the Health Professions Council of South Africa," the NNR said in a statement.

Mkhize commenced official duty on February 15, 2010.

Commenting on his appointment Mkhize said he looked forward to working with the NNR Board of Directors, the staff at the NNR and all stakeholders.

The NNR was established through the National Nuclear Regulator Act, Act 47 of 1999 to protect people, property and the environment against nuclear damage through the establishment of safety standards and application of effective regulatory practices.
