Petrol going down 10c per litre

The price of all grades of petrol will drop by 10 cents per litre on Wednesday next week, the energy department says.

The wholesale price of diesel with a 0.05 percent sulphur content would drop by 13 cents per litre, as would diesel with a 0.005 percent sulphur content, the department said.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would decline by 15 cents a litre, while the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin would drop by 20 cents a litre.

A litre of petrol 95 ULP in Gauteng would now cost R8.17.

The department added that during the period under review - July 2 to July 29, 2010 - the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin had decreased.

Meanwhile, the average Rand/US Dollar exchange rate for the period had strengthened.

It was 7.5757 compared to 7.6708 during the previous period, the department said.
