"We have reached an agreement," CEO Reggie Sibiya told Sapa.

The parties had agreed to a wage increment of 9.0 percent for the first year, 8.0 percent for the second year and 7.0 percent for the third year, Sibiya said.

This excluded Sector Five, Sector Six and Chapter Three workers.

"During negotiations, we established an industry policy forum and while we said this was not a dumping ground for unresolved issues, we agreed that there are issues of strategic importance that have come out in the negotiations."

These issues, Sibiya said, needed to be taken further in the forum.

A separate forum for the fuel sector had also been set up during the latest negotiations
