Airports Company SA CEO Monhla Hlahla is to leave in September after almost 10 years at the helm, it has emerged.
Her departure comes at a difficult time for the state-owned enterprise, with R18,9bn in debt on its books and almost no chance of receiving the 133% tariff hike it has asked the airline regulatory committee to grant it to strengthen its financial position.
While few would argue that Hlahla leaves Acsa in better shape, having spent R17bn on upgrading airports and building the new airport in Durban ahead of SA's hosting of the Soccer World Cup, questions remain about Acsa's spending splurge and how to pay for it, the , Business Day reported on Monday.
