Saudi Arabia says four killed in foiled attack on Dammam mosque

Four people were killed when a car exploded near a Shi'ite mosque in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, but authorities said militants failed in their bid to hit the mosque itself. The attack targeted worshippers in al-Anood mosque during Friday prayers, a ministry spokesperson said, quoted by the Saudi state news agency SPA.A car exploded outside a Shiite mosque in Saudi Arabia during Friday prayers, witnesses said, the second such blast in a week after a suicide bombing claimed by jihadists killed 21 people.A vehicle parked outside the mosque in the Shiite-populated city of Dammam on the Gulf coast exploded during the weekly prayers sermon, one of the witnesses, Nassima al-Sada, told AFP, adding there were casualties.Security forces became suspicious of a car parked near the mosque which exploded as they walked towards it, killing four people and setting cars beside it on fire, SPA said.
