In an opening address welcoming Democratic Republic of the Congo(DRC) President Joseph Kabila ahead of bi-national discussions, Zuma said the continent needed to build stronger institutional mechanisms.

This needed to be done both by individual countries as well as a regional bloc to ensure systematic development.

"I specifically want to refer to the reform of the United

Nations as well as international financial institutions like the

International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which still marginalise our continent in decision making," he said.

Zuma said progress in bi-national relations had been made, however, the global economic crisis hampered it from further strengthening.

"As we converge here today we should be so mindful of the compounding challenges that face us as a continent. During this time of the global economic meltdown our challenges are even graver."

In his address, Kabila applauded gains made in cooperation, however, it had not been easy amidst the continued conflict in his country.

"Nonetheless, they are not insurmountable problems... there is a background concern of the DRC conflict," said Kabila.

ooh even India has been sucked to the quagmire which africa has become result of it's unaccountable corrupt leaders, i saw a documentary on BBC where some Indians are donating skills and funding a project in Mali, to train women in that country to build own solar panels, they were trained to build electronics for Solar Panels, which is a very necessary futuristic skill, I was wondering why has the gov of Mali not thought and funded this project since this will benefit Mali, but then african leaders aren't known to invest in the future of their countries!! so they didn't think it was necessary and were pre-occupied with pilfering, whilst other leaders with common sense has to come in and pick beats and pieces of the mess created by these useless and corrupt african leaders? what do you want global communities to do for africa zuma, which they haven't already done? africa is a sad case with no signs of progress only corruption at massive scales which you also know and participated in it! I will never respect african leaders until they face up to the shame they bring on black africans thru their destructive behaviours which affects the continent negatively, I will also never respect african leaders until such time they humble themselves and take responsibility for destroying our pride (as africans) and subjecting us to all kinds of mayhem!! And I wish the global community would continue to treat african corrupt leaders with contempt they deserve.
