In a statement on Monday, Westinghouse said it had been selected by Eskom Holdings to provide three reloads of fuel for the Koeberg Nuclear Power Plant, north of Cape Town, from end 2011 to 2015.

"Under terms of the USD30 million (about R 220 million) contract executed with Westinghouse Electric Sweden AB, Westinghouse will produce fuel at its fabrication facility in Västerås, Sweden," the statement added.

"We are pleased to be able to continue to assist the Republic of South Africa in its ongoing and successful effort to generate the safe, clean and reliable electricity necessary to fuel continued economic growth," said Rita Bowser, regional vice president for Westinghouse Electric SA.

"We believe this agreement further demonstrates our commitment to South Africa, and we look forward to additional mutually beneficial partnerships in the years to come," she added.

Eskom generates, transports and distributes 95 percent of the electricity in South Africa and it has operated two 965MWe nuclear reactors at the Koeberg site for 25 years.

Westinghouse Electric Company is a supplier of nuclear plant products and technologies to utilities throughout the world.

this is proof enough that we are de-industrialising and are becoming increasingly dependant on other countries

RSA is suppliers of LABOUR only, they have no expertise whatsoever. Bantu Education continues in the guise of OBE and National Senior Certificate(and lowering of distinction requirements)

if you disagree then tell me, who builds and maintains the Table Mountain Cable Cars? who designed and headed the 2010 World Cup Staduims? Whose Designing and Heading Eskoms expansion programme? Who owns V&A waterfront? Whose most likely to build our ailing railway network? who builds our harbours? who builds and supplies Aribus A380's?

Africans are consumers not producers and government is fueling that

Eskom booted out the Nuclear scientists a few years ago in the interests of "transformation". Westinghouse hired them immediately.

The irony is it is probably South African scientists preping the reloads.

What a faarkinnng joke.

I was one of them that left because of the total desaster coming with their policies. I have no regets and actually, most of us work in totally diferent fields. As for ESKOM and the ANC, they can go play with vibrators, NON of us will ever assist or help this hole.
