Murdered policeman a humble man
Tshwane metro police sergeant Johannes Mtshumane Mogale who was brutally murdered last Friday, was a quiet, humble man with integrity, a congregation of family members and fellow officers heard at his memorial service.
Sitting in the front row Mogale’s wife, Margarette, sobbed quietly while hearing how his life would be remembered.
Tshwane regional director Moloko Racheku said Mogale’s death had touched all of them.
“Mogale was unassuming, very calm and collected.
“We must speak the truth. The humility of Mogale has taught me many lessons,” he said, adding that the officer was beyond reproach and not driven by materialism.
However, he also lashed out at Mogale’s alleged murderer, Blue Bulls rugby player Jacobus Stephanus “Bees” Roux.
“The pain that the children feel is that their father had been brutally murdered by a rugby player while on duty.”
SA Municipal Workers Union shop steward at the metro, Mpho Mokgwatjame, said while he was not attacking the media he did question how Roux had been portrayed.
“What was written was that his fiancee said that Bees could never hurt a fly,” he said to a resounding yes from the congregation.
“But when you see the structure of Bees it tells you a lot, it tells you the value of life.”
