Standard Bank's card division has appointed Ebrahim Matthews as managing director of Diners Club (SA). Standard Bank owns the local Diners Club franchise.

Matthews, who has held various roles with other banking institutions, joined Standard Bank four years ago and has been responsible for numerous card portfolios.

Matthews said he would take some time to understand the Diners Club business.

"Diners Club, though a niche business, has been profitable for a number of years, enjoying a firm place within the card division's bottom line," he said.

Matthews' predecessor, Linda Manzini, has been appointed to Standard Bank's Corporate and Investment Banking as head of coverage in South Africa.

AN expert in the field of whistle-blowing, Nicholas John, has been appointed chief executive officer of Deloitte Tip-offs Anonymous and will be based at the KwaZulu-Natal office. John, a registered chartered accountant, began his career with accounting firm Deloitte as an auditor in 1998.
