Expert whistle-blower takes charge - as does ex state official
Standard Bank's card division has appointed Ebrahim Matthews as managing director of Diners Club (SA). Standard Bank owns the local Diners Club franchise.
Matthews, who has held various roles with other banking institutions, joined Standard Bank four years ago and has been responsible for numerous card portfolios.
Matthews said he would take some time to understand the Diners Club business.
"Diners Club, though a niche business, has been profitable for a number of years, enjoying a firm place within the card division's bottom line," he said.
Matthews' predecessor, Linda Manzini, has been appointed to Standard Bank's Corporate and Investment Banking as head of coverage in South Africa.
AN expert in the field of whistle-blowing, Nicholas John, has been appointed chief executive officer of Deloitte Tip-offs Anonymous and will be based at the KwaZulu-Natal office. John, a registered chartered accountant, began his career with accounting firm Deloitte as an auditor in 1998.
His main focus is to keep abreast of trends in the marketplace, but he will also keep an eye on client relations and share his insights at many conferences.
SAP's corporate affairs executive, Sunil Geness, has been appointed president of the Information Technology Association of SA. The organisation represents companies that supply information technology equipment, systems software and services to the information and communications technology sector. It also promotes industry best practice.
Geness was the government relations manager at the South African State Information Technology Agency, and held several senior management positions in national and provincial government.
