The Democratic Alliance could win three of the countries biggest metros come the local government elections in August, according to recent polls.

The most recent weekly poll released by eNCA, and conducted by Ipsos, showed the DA leading the ANC and EFF in all three highly contested metros.

In Johannesburg, the DA increased its support to 36%, putting them ahead of the ANC by five points.

The ruling party saw its support in Tshwane drop by two points to 23%, with the DA leading with 40%.

Support for the EFF remained stabled in both metros, getting 9% and 13% respectively. However, Julius Malema's party saw a decrease in support in Nelson Mandela Bay by two points to 6%.

The DA maintained its lead in the metro with 42% while the ANC gained one point to bring them to 28%.

According to eNCA, a total of 2,500 panel members were polled. A total of 1,500 of them are contacted each week for a five-minute telephone interview.

eNCA said the results should be evaluated within the margin of error determined by sample size, response rate and sampling methodology used.
