Just hours before he was shot dead in Zwide on Tuesday night‚ Nelson Mandela Bay African National Congress (ANC) councillor candidate Nceba Dywili was busy with election work in Ward 4‚ Walmer. Tributes started coming in on social media on Wednesday morning as news of the shooting spread.ANC councillor Marion Harning was among those who remembered Dywili‚ saying he had been campaigning with Human Settlements Minister Lindiwe Sisulu earlier on Tuesday.“Late last night he was gunned down. Oh how angry and sad we feel. Oh the many memories of serving the ANC together we share. Oh his wife and children. Oh all those whose lives he would have improved in council. Oh the waste‚ the pain‚ the cruelty‚” Harning said on Facebook.“Dear God. Take our soldier of the people in Your arms. He joins all our struggle heroes who have gone before. Rest in peace Nceba Dywili. We will never forget you.”Police spokesman Constable Mncedi Mbombo said the incident happened at about 9pm on Tuesday. He said Dywili was dropping an ANC volunteer at a house at Zwide when he was shot several times in the upper body by two unknown men.The volunteer was shot in the buttocks and has since been discharged from hospital.“Police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. No one has been arrested at the moment‚” he said. – TMG Digital/The Herald..
