Grammy nominee Trey Songz thrilled fans at Johannesburg's Coca-Cola Dome, north of the city, last night.

The rapper, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, is in South Africa on a two-city tour organised in celebration of Women's Month.

On Friday, a horde of female fans could barely contain their excitement when he performed at the Wave House in Durban.

He entertained his SA audiences with hits from his four albums including Love Faces and Bottoms Up.

The US singer shared the stage with local group Teargas, who have recently been nominated for the Afrotainment Museke Africa Music Awards in New York.

A Grammy Award eluded Songz last year when he was beaten by Beyoncé, who took home the best contemporary R&B album gong.

After the ceremony he said in an interview: "I am guaranteed to win some day."

Following his show on Friday, Songz tweeted: "Amazed ... just performed for the first time in South Africa. Thank you Durban for the love you gave ..."

And yesterday, before taking to the stage, his tweet read: "On da way to Joburg!... very excited."
