IN THE LINE OF BEAUTY
Purfect cat eyes help to create a sophisticated, sexy look
As seen on the red carpet these days, the 1950s-inspired cat eye is the glamorous way to go. Paired with Angelina Jolie's sultry pout, or equally as effective with Michelle Williams' more demure look, the cat eye lends an air of sophistication to an ensemble.
A pencil liner is the easiest way to master the look, but once you've got it, you can switch to liquid liner, which gives a richer, darker, sexier look.
1Before starting, make sure you have a good canvas to work with. Clean the skin with eye make-up remover before you start.
2Cat eye make-up is all about eyeliner. Have a good dark brown or black pencil sharp and ready. You can also use eyeshadow as your eyeliner, to fill in, which creates a softer look.
3 Apply the base eyeshadow on the entire upper eyelid. You can use any colour, but if you want a low-key, sultry look, use a neutral matte, or bone eyeshadow that complements the skin tone. For a little glam and intensity, use a shimmer shadow or a deeper colour such as dark taupe, brown or smoky grey.
4Create a thick line on the upper eyelid close to the lash line. Flick the line out and up, past the outside corner of the eye. Join the top of your flick with the top arch of the thick line of the eye liner to create an outlined corner. Fill in the corner.
5Ensure your eyebrows are arched, trimmed and lined to perfection.
