GRUESOME images of US property tycoon and billionaire Donald Trump's sons posing with the carcasses of three of the Big Five after a hunting trip have gone viral, sparking worldwide rage.

But brothers Eric and Donald Trump jnr unashamedly boasted about their kills this week while on a hunting trip in Zimbabwe.

The photos surfaced on the website of a South African tour company that offers Big Five game hunting in SA, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Bot-swana, Namibia, Mozambique and Tanzania.

The series of photos show the two posing with their trophies - a leopard, an elephant and a buffalo. Photos of other kills included a waterbuck, a civet cat, a crocodile and a kudu.

But the pair have denied any wrongdoing, arguing that they are hunters.

In his defence, Trump jnr tweeted: ''I AM A HUNTER. I don't hide from that ... Just love to be outdoors with a gun or bow."

He added: ''I can assure you it was not wasteful - the villagers were so happy for the meat which they don't often get to eat."

In one of the grisly photos, 34-year-old Trump jnr holds the sawed-off tail of an elephant.

The pictures were posted on the Hunting Legends website, which ran the trip to the Matetsi area, near Victoria Falls. Trump jnr denied that the pictures were posted as a publicity stunt. ''I have no shame about them either. I HUNT & EAT game."

Hunting Legends was full of praise. "The Trumps soon showed their mettle, and it was evident from the word go that these two amazing young men are everything but the 'city slickers' you would expect!" it wrote on the website.

It also lists the costs of a hunt in SA. A single client with a professional hunter on a Big Five hunt paysfrom $750 a night, while two clients on a Plains Game Safari pay up to $475 a night.

Phillip Mostert of Hunting Legends told The Telegraph that the Trumps were principled hunters. ''Everything they hunted was 100% legal, in the presence of Department of Nature Conservation officials and with all the required legal paperwork," he said.

Meanwhile, Twitter was buzzing with criticism.

Michael Caputo tweeted: "I don't kill innocent animals, how dare you kill elephants and other animals, you piece of shit."

An unapologetic Trump jnr retorted: ''U eat meat? Wear leather? Where did that come from a tree? Really get a life."
