An evening with Kudzanai Chiurai, Blk Jks and Thandiswa Mazwai
Zimbabwean multimedia artist Kudzanai Chiurai will showcase his latest 'Conflict Resolution' art at an event which will also feature live music performances.
Called 'Left Behind', the show will open concurrently with Chiurai's dOCUMENTA(13) presentation in Kassel, Germany. dOCUMENTA is an international art exhibition held every five years, and this is its 13th showcase.
But for those who won't be catching it in Germany, Chiurai has organised the unofficial opening to the showing of his works in Kassel. Left Behind will take place at Co-Op and Room in Braamfontein's Juta Street and will feature live performances from Thandiswa Mazwai, Joao Orrecia and the Blk Jks.
The performances will be accompanied by video installations.
A new edition of Chiurai's Conflict Resolution posters will be displayed. Explaining the idea behind Conflict Resolution, he says: "The spaces within which conflict has been taking place vary to the extent of our own understanding of what defines conflict. Our understanding of resolution is therefore also brought to the fore as we question the validity and nature of force used in our attempts at peace."
Where: Juta Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg
When: 9th June 2012.
Time: 17:30 for 18:00
Performance Starts: 18.30
