SA Communist Party members sang in favour of local singer Zahara at its elective congress near Richards Bay.

City Press reports they sang, "Asimfuni uBeyonce; sifuna uZahara," meaning, "We don't want Beyonce, we want Zahara."

According to the paper, the lyrics briefly changed, with American singer "Beyonce" substituted for "Mbalula" and "Zahara" replaced with "Mantashe", but delegates afterwards denied this.

Opponents of President Jacob Zuma's second term as ANC leader would like to see Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula ousting Gwede Mantashe as secretary-general.
