Jennifer Lopez wants Bono or Jon Bon Jovi to succeed her on 'American Idol'.

The singer announced she was leaving the show after two series last week, and thinks they should target a huge rock star, such as the U2 and Bon Jovi stars, or The Rolling Stones' Sir Mick Jagger, to replace her.

When asked who should take her place on the show, she told ABC news: "I think Bono or Bon Jovi or Mick Jagger. You know me, I think big."

Jennifer, 42, also said she was inspired to leave the show - for which she was reportedly paid $15 million to appear - by the departure of co-judge Steven Tyler, who is now concentrating on his band, Aerosmith.

She added: "We had magic. I don't know, with him gone, it might be a different formula."

While Jennifer is leaving the reality TV show's panel, she hasn't ruled out being a part of the show in the future, and could still return as a guest performer or a mentor.

Speaking of the show's cast, she said: "I love them and they love me and it's hard when I feel like I should move on.

"I don't know that it's even done yet. I don't know. I feel like I'm moving on."

The show's remaining judge, Randy Jackson, recently paid tribute to his departing co-stars.

He said: "Steven and Jennifer are truly two of the most talented and consummate professionals I've worked with.

"I was friends with them before we hopped on this crazy journey together and I have no doubt our friendships will continue long after. I will love them for life."

Stars tipped to be targeted as judges for the show include Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus and Adam Lambert.
