VH1 star files for divorce after head-butt in 41 day marriage

Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson and wife Evelyn Lozada in happier times.

Evelyn Lozada has filed for divorce from former Miami Dolphin's receiver Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, ending their 41-day marriage.

After an incident in which the football player allegedly head-butted the VH1 reality-TV star, Evelyn decided she wanted out of a marriage that takes the crown as the shortest celebrity marriage in recent history, with the much-publicised Kim Kardashian/Kris Humphries 72-day marriage taking second place.

According to ABC News, a representative for Lozada confirmed that the divorce proceedings were underway.

"Given the recent events that have taken place, Evelyn has decided to file for divorce and move on with her life," said Lozada's lawyer, Michael B. Gilden.

The reality-TV star was treated at a hospital for lacerations to her head after an argument between the two on Saturday night allegedly ended with Johnson, 34, ramming Lozada with his head. He was later arrested on domestic battery charges.

Within 24 hours of his arrest, the Dolphins terminated the six-time Pro Bowl receiver's contract. VH1 shelved the upcoming reality-television program starring the couple, "Ev & Ocho."

Johnson, a frequent tweeter, yesterday broke his silence regarding the situation with a post on his official website, OCNN.

"I am going to let the legal process run its course. I wish Evelyn nothing but the best, I have no negative words to say about her, the only thing I can say is I love her very much," said Johnson.

Johnson and Lozada got married on July 4 this year. Lozada had been a cast member on the VH1 reality-TV series "Basketball Wives" when she was engaged to NBA star Antoine Walker, with whom she had a decade-long relationship.
