Zahra Universe & Wes collaboration chosen as Afcon official song
The CAF organisation has chosen the song ‘Sela Sela’ (Dance Together) by international artists Wes Madiko & Zahra Universe as the official song of the Orange Africa Football Cup of Nations.
The Africa Football Cup of Nations is to be held in South Africa 2013. The single hits all radio stations in December 2012.
The English and Bantu song talks about celebration and joy among all people, breaking down barriers that would hinder peace and unity. The song is a mix of genres including pop, electro-house, dance, RnB, and African folk, making it very appealing to a wide range of listeners worldwide.
Zahra Universe is a dance artist classically trained in piano and vocals. Her musical roots lie in understanding and tolerance between cultures around the world. She was recenly named Ambassador of Goodwill for the African port city of Kribi, Cameroon. She has also founded the organisation Cultural Universe Exchange.
Wes Madiko is best known for his song In Youpendi, which was featured in the 1998 movie Lion King 2, and Alane, a TF1 summer hit. As an artist from Africa, Wes was the first African to receive the bestseller prize in 1998. That same year his song Midiwa Boi (I Love Football) was played during the Fifa World Cup.
Wes has sold more than 12 million CD's worldwide and has received more awards and Grammys than any other African artist in the US. Wes Madiko has topped charts around the world: France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, UK, Australia, Japan, and Scandinavia. His upcoming album titled The Legend of the Elephants is scheduled for release in 2013.
