Chris Evans paid a surprise visit to a sick cancer patient in Boston.

The 33-year-old actor thrilled nine-year-old Kenny Botting, who is battling a brain tumour, when he made an appearance at Christopher's Haven, which provides and home away from home for children with cancer, on Monday.

The 'Captain America' star, who is from nearby Sudbury, Massachusetts, arrived at the medical centre with autographed gifts for his young fan and happily posed for photographs with him before taking a tour of the facility, according to WBZ-TV.

Chris was in town to attend a fundraising event for the centre at Fenway Park, according to PEOPLE.com, and admitted he draws strength from fans like Kenny.

He said: ''It's their strength that gives me strength. No matter what hurdles are in my life, it's nothing compared to what these families go through, so any way I can bring a smile, it's worth it.''

Meanwhile, Kenny, who is staying at Christopher's Haven with his mother and sister while he undergoes treatment next door at Massachusetts General Hospital, is grateful that he got a chance to meet his idol. He said: ''I am more than happy. I just want to say thank thanks for coming.''
