From the indie band that brought you melodically spelt out words, obtusely offbeat drums, and an oriental string instrument, comes another album that seems to be about everyday occurrences in the trio’s flat.

Starring the cat, flat furniture and, strangely enough, Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams, Alt-J did the tried and tested thing of plunging into some back-country American sounds.

This Is All Yours features a few songs that have achieved stellar success world-wide such as Left Hand Free and Hunger of the Pine, the latter of which was done in collaboration with mainstream artists Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams, and Cornell Haynes Jnr.

Featuring songs you can listen to while driving back from the gym, wind rushing through your comb-over, downing a protein shake & thinking of what wiffey to rock at I Heart Jo’burg tonight, Alt-J has now firmly anchored itself onto the ‘hybrid hipster’ playlist.

Ye esoteric hipsters, don’t go sulking at your local craft beer house just yet. This album features just the right amount of experimental and unique sounds to keep it at the level of Taro or Bloodflood.

The band has experimented with some more oriental sounds and a bit of blues mixed with their own diabolic concoction of bass driven electronics.

It promises to please and perhaps heal those ears damaged by South African radio DJ’s.
