The SABC allegedly told DJ Sbu's business partner Thembinkosi "TK" Nciza to zip it when he phoned SABC Head of Radio Lesley Nhleko to apologise for DJ Sbu promoting Mofaya at the Metro FM Music Awards.

According to the Sunday World a senior SABC official, who didn't want to be named, told them about the apology.

"Lesley told him to stop interfering with the internal processes of the SABC," the official told the newspaper.

We like to imagine the conversation went a bit like this:

Nciza however has denied the claims, and Metro FM's publicity and communications manager Happy Ngidi told the paper that they had no knowledge of the apology.

Sbu has since been suspended for the stunt and is facing a disciplinary hearing. He has been charged for every time he mentioned his energy drink on air.
