Proving to his detractors that not only international artists can bring in the numbers at Johannesburg's The Dome venue - Cassper Nyovest has raised the bar for local artists.

Since announcing that he planned to shift 20,000 tickets in less than three months, Cassper, real name Refiloe Phoolo has spun a web around his naysayers, doing exactly that.

On Monday, he announced that his goal had been reached. He also has his sight set on Orlando stadium.

 

Thousands of hip hop fans will see him put on a concert alongside Black Coffee and Mi Casa who volunteered their support for the 24-year old.

 

Some key facts about Cassper's concert:

  • Cassper is the first South African artist to sell out the Northgate venue
  • The concert cost Cassper R4 million of his own funds
  • He is spending more on the concert than he is expected to rake in a profit
  • Some of his additional revenue streams for the day include album sales although some fans will receive the album for free, sales of his merchandise including caps and t-shirts
  • There are two main sponsors (BP and AG Mobile) on board, one of which Cassper will be working with to design a cellphone
  • Cassper plans to take the fill up the dome concept nation wide, hosting tours in local towns and townships around the country
