Man of the moment Cassper Nyovest confirmed on Monday that the reason he snubbed the Maftown Heights festival is because of the beef between him and one of the organisers of the annual musical fiesta.

Just a week after making history when he became the first local musician to fill up the 20,000-seater TicketProDome, Nyovest, real name Refiloe Phoolo, allegedly told organisers of the event that his days of supporting other people’s events were over, according to a Sunday World report.

But the 24-year-old rapper, through his manager T-Lee Moiloa, denied this in a tweet.

Maftown Heights festival will take place at the Mary Fitzgerald Squared in Newtown, Johannesburg on Friday 27 November. That his arch-rival, AKA, was also invited to appear seems to have swayed Nyovest’s decision.

The event is co-founded by another Mahikeng rapper, Khuli Chana, whose beef with Nyovest is public knowledge. But it appears, Khuli Chana's involvement, coupled with AKA's invitation to the event, were the straws which  broke the camel's back.
