Tamartians will no longer be able to get their lives following BET & Glen 21’s confirmation that R&B singer, Tamar Braxon, will be unable to perform at the inaugural BET Experience Africa owing to ill health.
It was discovered earlier this month that Braxton had several pulmonary embolisms (blood clots) in her lungs following her appearance on American television show Dancing with the Stars.
Braxton’s hospitalization forced her to pull out of competing in the show and cancel all her upcoming tour dates - which, as it seems, includes BET Experience Africa set to happen on Saturday, 12 December.
She confirmed her exit from the show and tour date cancellation via her Instagram earlier this month.
Braxton is very fond of reminding her friends and family in her reality shows how she is “booked to capacity” but her work ethic has eventually taken its toll on her.
The decline in her health will be chronicled in the upcoming season of her show “Tamar and Vince.”
“[We] apologise for any disappointment caused, but we know that Tamar’s fans will recognise the importance of giving her the space and time to return to full health,” said the organizers in a statement.
Festival goers can still expect to see performances from Mary J Blige, Maxwell, Raphael Saadiq, Young Thug, AKA, Flavour, Diamond Platnumz, Nathi, Black Motion, DJ Euphonik and Monique Bingham.
The festival will also feature Genius Talks, sport, fashion, extreme driving and more for fans to participate in.
