Popular house DJ Black Coffee and his wife Mbali Mlotshwa slipped out of a side entrance at the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after his court case was postponed to January.

The DJ, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, stood in the dock in a black suit, with one of his hands in his pocket as his lawyer addressed the court. The magistrate was told the investigations had been completed. The case was postponed to January 5 for the defence to receive the docket.

The award-winning DJ's actress wife sat alone in the public gallery. Afterwards they slipped through a side entrance. He sat in the dock alongside other accused charged with speeding and assault. His case was one of the last matters to be heard.

Court officials barred the media from entering the court with cameras.

Black Coffee was arrested after he was allegedly caught speeding at 200km/h in his Maserati on the N1, near the Maraisburg brige, on December 24. In a message he posted to his fans, he apologised and claimed he had been rushing to a family emergency.
