The granddaughter of Miriam Makeba is set to continue the late songbird's legacy when she headlines an Africa Day Concert to be held later this month.

Musician Zenzi Lee will perform at an Africa Day concert at the State Theatre in Pretoria next Friday (May 27) and has promised to bring a little bit of her grandmother's magic to stage.

"My performance will be a collection of my grandmother’s compositions, my own and also of some of the composers she worked with, as well as those who have inspired me over the years,” she explained to Daily Sun this week.

She revealed that many of her own songs that she will perform at the show have not yet been released and will form part of an upcoming album.

Despite carving her own way as a musician, Zenzi is quick to acknowledge her musical roots and credits her family for her musical influence.

“I’ve had the pleasure of being surrounded by great musicians who all played a huge role in the kind of musician I am. I come from a line of lyricists and just like my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother I take pride in my compositions.”she said.
