Local artists Caspper Nyovest, AKA and Black Coffee have all been nominated for an American BET award next month.

The three local acts will all compete in the Best International Act: Africa category at the awards, to be held on June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

They will compete against the likes of Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Mzvee (Ghana), Serge Beynaud (Cote d’lvoire) and Nigerian superstar Wizkid.

Taking to Instagram following the announcement, Cassper said that he was honoured by the nomination.

"Look at God!!! Words cannot express how grateful I am to have such a loving God!!! All the glory to him!!! Let's bring the first South African BET home!!! This is for all the independent artists out there!!! For all the African kids with a dream!!!," he wrote.

While AKA took to Twitter to share his excitement, simply exclaiming: "Wow. THANK YOU!"

Both AKA and Cassper were nominated for a BET Award last year, AKA in the Best International Act category and Cassper in the Viewers' Choice Best International Act. Neither of the rivals won their respective categories.
