According to Daily Sun, most of the 500 aspiring DJs and producers who showed up at the Bassline in Newtown to audition for 1's and 2's were reportedly turned away, without having had the chance to try out.

The local publication reported that, in addition to the angry posts on the talent show's Facebook page from the people who were there to try their luck at becoming South Africa's next master of spin, aspirants blamed DJs Sphectacula and Naves for not getting the opportunity to audition.

One of the people who showed up at the venue was quoted as writing, "...it was just a dream-breaking day for our brothers and sisters."

Speaking to Daily Sun, a producer known only as Jason, explained: "Last year we had about 120 people who turned up, so I was surprised to see about 300 people at the venue."

"I quickly called up more crew to deal with at least double the number compared to last year, which is 240. Unfortunately, some hopefuls were asked to enter online and we chose three finalists from the online entrants," he added.

The producer further revealed that not only will they be better prepared to handle large crowds at the auditions next year, but that they are planning three more audition dates for Joburg.
