Sunday World is reporting that despite the SABC giving clear instruction that actors need to be given three-year contracts following the axing of 16 Generations cast members who embarked on a strike over contracts at the end of 2014, this has not been done.

  • Beware of a Muvhango audition scam doing the roundsMuvhango’s production team has urged the public to be aware of a scam purporting prospective actors to audition to become a part of the popular SABC 2 soapie.

The paper has learnt that Muvhango boss Duma Ndlovu has not followed through with the instruction and many key actors including Sindi Dlathu, Lesley Musina, Dingaan Mokebe, Sydney Ramakuwela and others have not yet been given longer-term contracts.

"We didn't get those three-year contracts, and I doubt we will get them," said one of the actors.

The actors, who did not want to be named due to fear of reprisal, added that everyone is too scared to even bring up the topic of contracts.

Muvhango publicist Amanda Ngudle told the paper that the actors' contracts will be renewed when the soapie's contract with the SABC is renewed at the end of August.

"Our current contract with the SABC was signed in August 2014. We could not have signed three-year contracts with our actors when our own three-year contract was already in procession when the verbal promise was made to the actors. It does not make legal sense," read part of the statement.

  • 'Muvhango' actor Vho-Mushasha diesVeteran actor Sammy Moeti, who regaled multitudes of TV viewers with his fine sense of humour, passed away on Monday night after a long illness.

Hlaudi told the paper that he was not aware about the contracts not being renewed and that he deal with the matter.

"Duma can't defy the SABC. There's no way. If you do business with us, you will do, what we want you to do as an organisation," he said.
