Bonang Matheba responds to gay community backlash over Uganda gig

Following the extreme backlash that she received from the gay community on Wednesday for accepting a gig in Uganda, Bonang Matheba has revealed that she stands firm in respecting ''human rights of all kinds."

Bonang's camp released a statement responding to the criticism she got on social media, which states that her booking agents assured her the "Uganda Entertainment Awards, were representative of Uganda's entertainment diversity".

Furthermore, it's revealed that Bonang, who often jets off to other African countries for gigs and events, is always willing to extend herself to the call of her career.

While it isn't clear whether Bonang will be going ahead with the gig, the statement claims that she has "instructed her booking agents to look into the contractual obligations entered on her behalf".

Gay rights activists took to social media on Wednesday to slam the TV personality for agreeing to host the 2nd annual Uganda Entertainment Awards‚ despite the fact that the country does not support gay rights. Two years ago the president of Uganda outlawed homosexual acts in the country.
