It may not have been officially announced yet, but it seems the cat is out of the bag! Sonia Sedibe and Luthuli Dlamini are set to feature in a hilarious new comedy, entitled Soap on a Rope.

TMG Entertainment got a chance to visit the set of the show recently and spoke to one of the leading actors on the show, Luthuli Dlamini.

Luthuli explained that the show is about the adventures and misfortunes on the set of a TV show.

"It's based on the comedy of errors that happen on a TV set. How quirky actors can be behind the set," he said.

The show will see Luthuli feature alongside some of the biggest names in SA acting, including Sonia Sedibe, Nina Hastie, Melanie Du Bois and Alfred Ntombela.

It will be the first time that Luthuli has acted in a TV comedy since his stint on M-Net's The Coconuts eight years ago.

"My character's name is Sello. He's a classic trained actor that is married to a white actress who is also the producer of this 'show,'" Luthuli explains.

Luthuli said that fans can expect some side-splitting moments from some very interesting characters.

"There's just so many weird characters. Like a young white sangoma (played by comedian Nina Hastie) who poisons everyone with muti. I can't give too much away but it's an incredible show."

The show is set to premiere on SABC 2 from Friday August 5 at 7:30pm
