Local pop star Judith Sephuma has postponed her scheduled tour to the UK, set for later this month, after her mother's sudden death last week.

It is understood that the star's mother passed away last Tuesday and was laid to rest in her home town of Seshego in Polokwane this past weekend.

In an official statement released by Judith and her management, Lalomba Music, the star thanked fans for their support and prayers during this difficult time.

"For all your love and support in this time where me and my family are mourning the passing of ses Miemie, my mom, I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and words of encouragement. More than anything I thank and give glory to my God for His grace that has been keeping me and my family strong. Blessings!" she wrote.

The tragedy has rocked Judith's family and has led to the star postponing her UK tour set for later this month.

"The Judith Sephuma live in the UK concert has been postponed. New dates will be posted for September as soon as they are confirmed. We would like to take this time to thank everyone who has already bought tickets and we will definitely see you on the new dates," she added in the statement.

In the midst of her sorrows, there was a silver lining for Judith. The star was honoured with the Best Adult Contemporary Album at the SA Music Awards held in Durban over the weekend.
