US rapper Lil Wayne has dismissed rumours that his seizures were caused by sizzurp.

The rapper has come out to set the record straight, explaining that the seizures which he suffered earlier this week, were caused by him not taking his epilepsy medication.

The Young Money rapper suffered two seizures while on his private plane travelling from Milwaukee to California, which forced the plane to make an emergency landing in Nebraska.

Just days after news that the rapper had to be hospitalised emerged, rumours that the seizures were caused by an overdose of sizzurp sent the rumour mill into overdrive.

However speaking to international gossip site TMZ Lil Wayne shut down these claims explaining that the seizures were caused by him not taking his epilepsy medication.

The rapper's team told the website that he didn't take his medication because a pharmacy in Milwaukee where he was performing did not have the meds in stock.

The good news is that the rapper is in better spirits and was reportedly well enough to perform just two days after being hospitalised.

"Under the guidance of his own doctors, he is now in a stable condition and good spirits. He thanks his fans for their everlasting support, prayers and well wishes," the stars' representative told Billboard in a statement earlier this week.
