Renowned for producing and composing music for The Lion King which has gained worldwide acclaim, Lebo M hopes to make SA proud of his work.

"This means a great deal to me and the South African film industry that a little township boy from Soweto, who left for exile at age 16 with nothing, ends up with his work on two iconic Hollywood animation films in history," Lebo told TMG Entertainment.

Lebo explained that he co-wrote and produced two key themes in the movie.

Speaking about the thought process behind producing the songs, Lebo explained that it was important for him to create a theme that it is iconic.

"It was critical I create an iconic melody and theme that would hopefully leave a legacy similar to The Lion King. I knew immediately when working with my friend Rulert, I wanted a female voice and at that time I wanted this opportunity for Zoe Mthiyane."

Lebo hopes that the music of the movie will move audiences globally.

"I hope like The Lion King, Legend of Tarzan will move audiences around the world and be a success. And most importantly to me and selfishly so, I hope my work through this film will bring a sense of pride to South Africans at home and the world over."

Legend of Tarzan premieres in South Africa on July 15.
