Rapper AKA has secured five nominations at this year's African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), the most of any South African on the list.

The Levels rapper secured nominations in the Best Rap Act, Best Male Southern Africa and Artist of the Year categories. While his hit collaboration with Tanzanian artist Diamond Platnumz scored him two nominations in the prestigious Best Collaboration and Song of the Year categories.

AKA took to Twitter on Thursday night to tweet his appreciation of the nominations, posting the South African flag next to a praying hands emoji.

The rapper walked away with two awards at last year's ceremony, for Best Male Southern Africa and Best Collaboration for All Eyes on Me.

There was also love for AKA's rival Cassper Nyovest, who secured two nominations in the Best Rap Act and Best Male Southern Africa categories.
