In a heartfelt and telling social media statement Nandi Madida (Mngoma) has for the first time poured her heart out about marrying Zakes Bantwini and carrying their first child together.

Their romance has been an open secret for the longest time, however they've both never officially confirmed their relationship, and have kept the details away from the public eye.

Over the past few months Nandi and Zakes have found themselves making headlines after marriage and pregnancy rumours started doing the rounds.

The publicity shy couple surprised fans on Wednesday night when Nandi showed off her baby bump at the opening of the annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, after trying to keep the news under wraps for months.

Nandi chose the perfect moment for her and Zakes to confirm the news, she says in a statement. She explained that when news of her marriage and pregnancy had been leaked to the media, they felt like their privacy had been violated, which is the reason they didn't confirm the news.

"This year has exceeded all my expectations. God really pulled some beautiful surprises and opened new chapters in my life," she said.

Nandi went on to explain that even though she and Zakes started dating three years ago, they're very traditional and respectful of their culture, and therefore wanted to do things the proper way.

The actress confirmed that she and Zakes tied the knot earlier this year in a private ceremony that was attended by family and close friends.
