Rapper Kid X shocked the nation on Friday when he took to national TV to announce his departure from Cashtime Life.

The artist, who was one of the first artists signed to the label at its formation, announced on SABC 1's Live Amp that he had parted ways with the company.

But if you felt like your ears were deceiving you, the show later took to Twitter to confirm the news, hinting that Kid X may be working with fellow rapper Kwesta in the future- with whom he shares a 2012 hit BoomShakaLaka.

The news sent shockwaves across the country as fans flooded social media with their thoughts on the announcement.

Since then, Kid X has remained largely quite, while speculation about his future grows.

And it seems both the rapper's management and his former label are not willing to comment on what exactly happened between Kid X and Cashtime.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Monday Cashtime's Thabiso Khati said that they would not comment on the situation with Kid X and referred us to the rapper's management, who also refused to comment, saying that they may respond in due time.

Kid X's departure from the label is the second high-profile exit for Cashtime, following Nomuzi's shock split from the company in March.

The female rapper has since started her own record label, named Nomuzi Mabena Music.
