Musician Arthur Mafokate has come out to set the record straight on his political standing, following the backlash he received on social media on Monday for seeming to show support for the EFF and DA.

Twitter users took aim at Arthur accusing him of "not having a backbone" in the midst of the frenzy, moments before the DA's Herman Mashaba was inaugurated as the Mayor of Johannesburg.

Arthur also seemed to show support for EFF leader Julius Malema. "The Julius that I know is not gonna take any nonsense from any person that he donated his votes to, watch the space," he tweeted.

Even Julius himself responded to Arthur's comments seeming surprised.

Arthur's comments got tongues wagging which instantly saw him top the Twitter trends list, with social media users lashing out at him, questioning his loyalty for the ANC.

In the wake of the backlash Arthur returned to social media making it clear that he is an ANC supporter.

"I am an ANC supporter. I take full responsibility of my successes and failures of my beloved party," Arthur said.

Arthur went on to add that he was still behind the party.

Shortly after Arthur's comments went viral hip-hop star AKA who is an avid ANC supporter also added his voice to the raging debate. Even though he did not mention names in a string of tweets, AKA fired shots at "floor crossers" and "parasites," who according to him were showing their true colours already.
