Ice Cube's son may have stolen the show with his portrayal of his father in Straight Outta Compton, but he won't be playing one of his father's most famous roles.

Ever since Ice Cube called time on his classic Friday film series 14 years ago, fans have been desperately wishing for a new instalment.

Rumour had it that the series was set to have a fourth movie, starring Ice Cube's son O’Shea Jackson Jnr, in his father's original role.

The reports originated from a post on a Facebook account in O’Shea's name.

But taking to Twitter this week, Ice Cube posted a picture of the account carrying the news and confirmed it as a fake.

But that doesn't mean that a new Friday film might not one day make its way on to our screens.

The veteran rapper and actor took to Twitter a few hours later to reveal that he had held a meeting about a possible sequel.
