TV personality Somizi has opened up about his last visit to kwaito legend Mandoza just days before his death.

Taking to social media Somizi reflected on the visit to his friend, saying that he was in such high spirits despite his condition.

“My heart is in such pain. Went to visit him last week at his home. His excitement was like a child seeing sweets,” said Somizi.

Somizi added that they had a deep conversation about God and spiritually.

“We laughed we spoke about spirituality. About God. We joked about almost everything. Including his blindness.”

Somizi went on to add that despite his ailing condition Mandoza promised that he was happy.

“He promised me that no matter what, his soul is happy. We hugged and said our goodbyes. He asked me to cook and bring him my meals. I’m in such pain. RIP Mdu.”

The nation has been in a state of mourning since news of Mandoza’s death emerged on Sunday afternoon.

Last week the kwaito legend’s family revealed that his long-standing battle with cancer had reared its head after doctors discovered a tumour in his brain. Despite being in a serious condition his family were hopeful that he would beat the battle against cancer.
