The family of late kwaito star Mandoza have been left overwhelmed by the outpouring of support they have received from the star's friends, fans and government.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Tuesday, Mandoza's uncle, Mzwakhe Tshabalala said that they are incredibly grateful for the love and support they have received over the past few days.

Mzwakhe also revealed that Minister Nathi Mthethwa and Minister Faith Muthambi visited the star's Soweto home to pay their condolences to the family.

"Minister Nathi Mthethwa visited the the family yesterday and spent almost the entire day and minister Faith Muthambi and other ministers arrived today to pay their condolences," he said.

Mzwakhe added that they couldn't have gotten through the past few days without the support of people.

"We couldn’t have done this without the support and love that we are getting from the people. Even if you have money, you still need people and support around you."

Mzwakhe added that government and Mandoza's friends have helped them immensely in the organising of the memorial and funeral services. "They have helped with the catering and many other things."

Speaking to TMG Entertainment at a press conference held in Soweto on Monday, Mandoza's family came out strongly to rubbish broke rumours.

"Mandoza did not die a broke man or a pauper. He is a husband, father, friend and his family will give him the farewell he deserves," Mzwakhe said.

Mandoza died on Sunday afternoon while on his way to hospital after fighting a lengthy battle with cancer, which the family said resulted in a brain tumour.

A public memorial service will be held for Mandoza on Wednesday, 21 September at midday, at the Ellis Park Arena.
