It's reported that AKA's management informed iRock Festival organisers that the rapper and his band would arrive two hours late for his performance, and subsequently put in a request to be moved to a later slot.

However, the event organisers have since dismissed the claims, asserting that they were not apprised.

This miscommunication in the schedule saw an altercation breaking out between DJ Black Coffee and AKA's road manager Tshiamo Letshwene.

In a short clip of the incident, Black Coffee is seen arguing with Tshiamo before planting a stinging slap on his face.

A press statement by Vth Season Talent and Entertainment Marketing Agency claimed that event organisers should be blamed for the incident, saying that they had requested to move AKA's performance to a later slot.

  •

"Three weeks ago we requested a performance time change for AKA to which the event organisers agreed and confirmed. We wanted to ensure that there was enough travel time for AKA and his band as they had another event prior to the DSTV iRock Festival and a private jet was chartered to ensure they got to Limpopo at the quickest possible time," read a part of the statement.

But according to Sowetan LIVE, iRock founder and president Rito Hlungwani said there was no communication of the change in the time slot between them and AKA's camp. He told the local publication that AKA and his management "misrepresented" the contract and the schedule by ignoring their time slots.

  •

"The parties have a legal agreement which obligates them to perform as per information in that agreement so I think this time you can see that the schedule is misrepresented by artist because it's official," said Rito.

"It was announced and everybody was happy to receive it. So how can you announce what is not official?"

After seeing an email correspondence between both parties, Sowetan LIVE further reports that the schedule was confirmed in June, and that Rito also verified it on the morning of the event.

AKA went on to cancel his performance at the event, and took to Twitter to voice his anger at the incident.

"Nobody will lay hands on someone on my team in front of thousands and expect me to continue as normal," he wrote.

"What would you have preferred?? For me to act crazy? .... Nah. I'm in a good place. I decided leaving was the best thing to do."

Meanwhile, Black Coffee apologised for the incident during his set at Kong on Sunday evening, and reassured fans that he is "not that guy".
