Afternoon Express presenter Danilo Acquisto has been left fuming over a fake profile that has been set up with his name and picture on gay dating app Grindr.

Danilo has revealed that his friends discovered the fake profile and alerted him to it.

The popular gay dating app is a quick and easy online tool for gay and bisexual men to find possible dates, friendship and even just people interested in having sexual encounters.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Danilo explained that being alerted to the fake profile has angered him because some "pervert" is using his picture and public profile to "prey on young guys".

  •

"It's disgusting that someone is hiding behind someone else's face to prey on young guys and fuel their own sexual desires," he said.

Danilo said that he also prides himself on being a professional and being used falsely on the app is just inappropriate.

"I put a lot of effort into being a professional and I'm angry that someone would socially typecast me in this manner."

  •

After being alerted to the fake profile, Danilo explained that some of his friends who used the app had reported it to Grindr, but he has had no feedback.

He now wants to use the debacle to create awareness for people using dating apps to be more careful.

"Dating apps are for people to find friends and make connections and someone is using my picture to get young guys to give off a part of themselves."
