A movie depicting Dr. Dre as a violent and abusive boyfriend is set to be released on Friday, 14 October. This despite the popular rapper and producer threatening to sue if the film goes ahead.

The film, a biopic based on the life of Dre's ex-girlfriend Michel'le, has had tongues wagging from the moment it was announced a couple of weeks ago.

The straight to TV film details the 90's singer’s life and relationship with Dre, and will apparently lift the lid on the violent abuse she suffered at Dre's hands during their time together.

According to TMZ, Dre has threatened to sue both Michel'le and Sony if the film goes ahead.

The site claims that Dre's lawyers have issued a cease and desist letter to the film's distributors in an attempt to prevent it from being aired.

In the letter, Dre apparently denies abusing the singer and says that she never hinted at abuse during their relationship or filed a police report against him.

But Michel'le reportedly refuses to change anything.

"My only concern is that I’m not understanding if he’s saying he never abused me at all, because I’m insulted if that’s what he’s saying. I allowed him to portray himself in his story the way he wanted to portray himself…I think my truth will stand when we get to court, if we do," she told the site.
