Rapper JR launched a mini Twitter rant recently, in which he lashed out at the local music industry and artists who believe they are "too good" to have producers.

JR began by asserting that "the game [the industry] is literally on its knees," suggesting that it's struggling at the moment.

The rapper continued to explain that the main cause of this are artists who feel they do not need "developing and producing," and as a result, their careers are short-lived.

While big international artists such as Beyoncé, Kanye West and Adele still often seek the assistance of producers, JR asked  "too good" local artists who they think they are to believe that they'll do well without the help of a producer.

"Too many SA artists are "too good" to be produced... Well, Kanye ain't, Beyoncé ain't, Bruno Mars ain't, Adele ain't, so who are YOU to be?" he wrote, adding that he recently had a conversation with Sylvia Rhone, an American music industry executive, who shared the same sentiments about South Africa's music industry.

"I had a meeting with Sylvia Rhone "GOOGLE HER" and she had a lot to say about how our music sounds... WE LACK PRODUCERS!"
