In an emotional interview on Real Talk with Anele Mdoda, Basetsana Kumalo opened up about the death of her father, describing her last days with him.
Bassie said that the death of her father was completely devastating because she was a daddy's girl.
"I thought I wouldn't be able to breath. It felt like I lost the world I was leaning on."
Bassie said she was in Cape Town when she got a call that her father was in hospital.
"He was in a coma for three weeks and every day I'd go visit him. We all slept in the hospital. (We would) just go home to shower. I would sing to him. I would play his favourite music. I'd read scriptures to him."
With tears streaming down her face, Bassie said that her father was always there for her.
"My father was a present father. He epitomises all that I hope my boys become. On the last day before he rested, normally when I leave the ICU, I never used to look back because I knew I was coming back. And that particular day I looked back and I said 'I'll see you soon.' And then the call that you need to come back to the hospital. And he had gone to his maker."
